I'm trying to create a new character for BG2:ToB.
I love Fighters so I'm thinking of taking a Berserker. I thought that I'd give him Grand Mastery in War Hammer so I can use Crom Faer and then use a second weapon in his off hand. I thought I'd go with Long Swords for the most versatility but could go with Battle Axes as well. I need some advice about allocating proficiency slots. If my fighter has a high dexerity (18) how many slots should I spend in two weapon style. I'd like to have grand mastery in both weapons I choose. Any advice? |

always put 3 in dual wield.
i'd focus more on the long swords and work up the warhammer as you go along. since good longswords are pretty quick to get and the crom is not. |

also make sure you have the grandmastery patch from baldurdash, 'cause its just not worth it w/o it.
another thing to bear in mind, you only get one attack w/ the offhand weapon so you don't need to be real skilled w/ it. |

I agree with getting the Grandmastery patch. It is not really a cheat, it just brings BG2 in line with ADnD rules of Weapon profeciency.
http://members.home.net/mrkevvy/ That link is to Baldurdash, he has great fixes to bugs, and some great mods, and great cheats too. Enjoy. I personally like to go with duel weld or with 2handed weapons. If you are going with duel-weld, put 3 into it. Then take up what you want. Same goes for 2handed weapons, put 2 into it, and then what weapons you want. I have been messing around with a Swiss Style Pauple (sp) guard (2 handed weapons, halbred, and xbow--sort of like the popes guards), and it's been fun, and there are some really nice halbreds out there. One note on war hammers is that you will feel left out on getting some nice weapons until you do get the crom, as most of the others are +2. A good set up might be for you to go with War hammer and flail or war hammer and ax, or go with war hammer and katana (that seems to be very popular). Good luck ------------------ Drink and be merry Jimbo "Renegade, Rebel, and Rogue" |
