The poisoned/bleeder type weapons are there for someone who is doing a non-melee type npc, like an assassin who hits and hides, or a Ranger who uses bows to do a hit and run. I think it is a challenge to try to use all of the weapons, not just to discount anything til you at least tried it a couple of times. Sure you're going to have your favorites, but you will never grow as a rpger if you just find the biggest stick and walk up and hit the bad guys.
