I have always been told to wait a year after an OS has been released to allow others to work through the troubles for you...so I am not going to own it when it first comes out.

Sound advice indeed Larry.

You've got a long wait for Vista in any case - at least half a year and probably longer if you believe the likes of Gartner.

It's already two years late as it is, so its certainly not unfeasible it'll slip more. A nice timeline of slippage for you.

I'm so disappointed with Vista though - it had the potential to have been something really revolutionary and innovative with some genuinely impressive features. I would certainly have bought it, despite the hardware requirements. Now all of the major features have been stripped except for a shiny 3d accelerated graphical interface which Mac and Linux users already have but without needing to buy a new computer for. It's a farce

Not much that I am aware of. Vista is packed with cool stuff, and I am loving it so far.

WinFS is my biggest disappointment. It also looks like security will still be a problem which frankly is inexcusable.

The final page of a beta review here summarises some of it. (Do check out pages 1 - 4 for the rest of the review though).

I did read a very thorough web site documenting the what the author considered the six major features of Vista and the subsequent demise of five of them. I can't find it for the life of me now though, if I stumble across it I shall certainly post it.
