Question Mark

If I was to create a Fighter(1)/Paladin(3)/Cleric(16), Human, would i lose exp points? also, is this a good combo?

How about a Half-Orc Druid? Did anyone try this before?

I want to get back into NWN. I had some unsuccessful shots before.

The Fighter/Paladin/Cleric combo would get an xp penalty, yes. If I were you, I would go for Fighter(4)/Cleric(16) instead, no xp penalty this way. 3 levels of Paladin wont do much for this character, as the Cleric can heal all of what the Paladin get's immunities to. Exchange the Paladin levels for Fighter levels instead to get more combat feats. A pure Cleric works great too.

No race get's a penalty to wisdom, so any race makes good Druids. Choosing a half-orc wont affect your Druid much, just a penalty to intelligence and charisma, but wont add much either.

You might lose experience points depending on how you play it. I also question the usefulness of the sole fighter level. Granted, if you spend it on the Cleric class you would suffer -1 to hit, lose an attack, and a bonus feat so that's not the ideal solution. Taking that level in Blackguard, Weapon Master, Champion of Torm or Paladin would rid you of the xp penalty and you'd get to keep the +1 to hit and extra attack as well as any bonusses those classes offer, if you can meet the requirements.

The best solutions would probably be either adding the Fighter level last, adding the Paladin level last, or going Cleric 15 and then reaching Fighter level 2 before you go Paladin level 3.

As far as the combo goes, I wouldn't play it. It might be reasonably effective but most of the effectiveness comes from the Cleric class. Although you'll have a decent number of attacks (with a minimal attack bonus) per round and fear immunity, you sacrifice four levels for that. You're likely to be better off with a pure cleric (or a Cleric/Champion of Torm for fighting, or a Cleric/Monk if you want to get really nasty). The cleric has spells like Remove Disease as well, comes with his own Turn Undead, most fear-causing creatures are evil and therefore stopped with a Protection from Evil spell, and you'll make up for a lost attack, no smite, and -1 to hit penalty with extra spells and increased damage + durations, and the ability to specialise instead of being both an average caster and an average fighter.

As for the half-orc druid, there's no reason it shouldn't work.

oooooooh...
cleric/monk...
i never thot of that. i've always just gone full monk.

i guess i'd haveta do cleric first, otherwise i'd lose my monk benefits for changing classes, right? so how many levels of cleric before going to monk?

i'm willing to start all over just to try it.

Nope you don't loose your monk benifits when changing classes. As long as you don't wear armour then you won't loose your monk bonuses.

okay i wasn't clear...
when i do the order as monk then cleric, i can't ever return to levelling up as a monk.

i want to be a monk. but i want a lil bit of cleric.
so i'm doing cleric first then going to my monkey.

how many levels of cleric should i do to get benefits? keep in mind my monk is my favorite class and the class i want to get the most out of and get tons of levels on ... eventually being weapon master.

so what? cleric = 4 levels? or is that too few to really benefit?

You'll want more. 9 at the least to get a decent benefit from your buffs, those and the domain abilities will be your greatest assets to the Monk levels. As for monk levels, you want at least 6 to get the improved knockdown bonus and anything beyond that can't hurt either.

There is no reason why you shouldn't be able to switch back and forth between monk and cleric levels unless you plan on being non-lawful at some point.

oh-kay.
the manual & bioware's online nwn class description states that once you leave your monk class for another class you can't ever go back to the monk class.
are both wrong?

either way, i guess i won't do it.
i want to be a monk.
not a cleric who just happens to have a few levels of monk. i had heard that several levels of cleric can help a monk but, unlike many others, i do not care for clerics. and i just adore the things a high level monk can do. and completely naked.

i've played my monk and every other class so many times, i was looking to see if there was any way to spice my lil monkette up this time 'round. in fact, i was looking for a way to possibly move her lawful meter more to the chaotic side... she is, after all, a very bitter and pissed off monk.

You can switch back and forth between monk and cleric levels. The ONLY time you won't be able to level up as a monk is if your alignment becomes non lawful.

As others has said above, in NWN you can switch back and forth between Cleric and Monk freely, you just have to be lawful when picking Monk levels. In the PnP version of Dnd you can't do this and once you've left the Monky path, you can't go back. Same goes for Paladin.

Cleric/Monk is a great combination, but takes awhile before it becomes really good. A Monk with Cleric buffs is sick.
