I have gone through a lot of posts on this board pertaining to problems with graphical glitches and other anomalities in windows 2000 but most of what I am seeing doesn't seem to have anything to do with whether or not people are running in software rendering mode or hardware mode. I want to be able to go hardware d3d because I want the resolution to run at 1024 x 768 instead of the mandatory 640x480 in software mode.
I am currently using a Voodoo 5 5500 and I have tried the origianl drivers all well as the X3dfX release and the last official WHQL release but I get a completely garbled screen when trying to do d3d hardware rendering even at the opening screen of the game.
Does anyone have any idea (other than the fact that I am running Win2k) as to why this could be happening?
Any help would be much appreciated and I can be found at my e-mail address or ICQ#2012666

Welcome to the board, nelson836!!!

What sort of memory do you have on your machine??

I'm no techie expert so am not going to be able to help you much. You might wish to post this question into Sazerac's techie help desk thread (still on page 1). Saz is excellent at figuring out the technical problems. He sometimes drops in to check on things late at night (yay!). Hope he will catch your post soon and offer you some suggestions.

I have read in posts where folks have gotten the 3d working fine that they have actually preferred the software rendering.

Good Luck!

The memory in this machine is 2x 128mb pc133 dimms. I would doubt they have anything to do with it since this is the only game and indeed the only executable that has acted this way.
Software rendering would be fine if I could get beyond 640 x 480....I really can't stomach the graphics at that low of a resolution having been spoiled by playing Baldurs Gate 2 at 1024 x 768 for so long
Thanks for reminding me about Sazerac's techie help desk thread....will add to it !
