Pure class clerics aren't boring. Ever.
I mean one can look at Viconia's character (from bg2) and be almost inspired by their possibilities. Didn't you ever play one in basic D&D as a kid? I know I did. They can be awesome to play. Besides, this is a roleplaying game and your characters can only really be as interesting as you make them. Invent a personality based on a background you create in Faerun. Fiddle with the races and clerical schools until you find a combination which captures your imagination. Then its roleplay all the way! Just a thought. Cheers, Cerebrodragon [ 05-26-2004, 01:01 AM: Message edited by: CerebroDragon ]

Ive got a pure drow cleric after of course doing business with Viconia and reading the Salvatore books. I made her lathander because I didnt know what else really and the fake lay on hands seemed useful. Sorcerers.net has a cleric pack to add Arachne of Lolth as a choice. Ill dabble with that later.
But so far she seems ok. Goes toe to toe for awhile, throws a couple animates in front, that one Aganazzers has been useful. So far All Ive been doing business is summon 2 creatures, maybe 3, put em ahead a bit, grease em up, entangle if outside, then lure them in and fireball/skull trap the hell out of em. And who knows, I love rogues and figured my Dwarven paladin would do all the tanking, yet my rogue is the one always getting chased. Apparently the enemy doesnt like you sneakin in and killing their sorcs and shamans in one hit. Hehe |

Yes, I'm enjoying my Drow Cleric so far, even if she only has a wisdom of 16 and doesn't quite pack the punch spell-wise yet at only level 7. I went for Ilmater as I didn't really want to lose the 3 levels I'd gained when I'd learned that there was a cleric pack from Sorcerers.net. So yes, I might try that at a later point too.
So far my cleric mainly uses summons (the chosen zombies are durable) bless, chant, doom and dispel magic, which is very handy at times when more than one character gets charmed or something equally nasty. I found it amusing at first when something hits her hard and she screams "how dare that thing strike out at me!", but after the third time, I got as angry as she. I'm actually a little concerned about my rogue at the moment. She's mainly a missile specialist and decoy "gingerbread man" specialist, though I want to use her more sneakily. I don't seem to be able to get many backstabs in and usually end up copping quite a bit of damage before fleeing. Even if this tactic can work, I'm seriously considering taking a couple of levels of fighter to help with attack bonuses for the assasinatory cause.
