Hey All.
I have 3 questions and need help. 1) Has anyone ever gotten into the locked house in Kuldahar..? 2) has anyone ever found out what the back door/staircase is for on the gnomes airship? 3) When I first made it to Dorns Deep I was fighting a bunch of Drow in the dead end room next to the table/puzzel room. There was this Axe laying on the ground that was able to be picked up.. I died and had to go back to my last save but when I got back, the ax was gone. Has anyone else ever seen this ??? |

1. Yes, but only by using the cheats. Teleport to area AR2109. The contents are uninteresting. A small amount of gold (60 gp?), a sling +1, and something else equally worthless that I forget. (I haven't done this, just read reports of it on the official IWD board.)
2. It's so you can talk to the cow. 3. Those drow, like *many* foes (and containers) in the game, have some random items. They will be somewhat different every time you try it. Random gear is set when you first enter the level, though. You can't just save before examining the pile and find different stuff every time you reload. |

Has anyone found the legal way into that house..? I dislike ( but *sigh* yes have used) Hacks and cheats. I generally want to play the game it was intended.

It's not clear there is a legal way into the house. More or less official word on the IWD board is that it's left over from a quest that was dropped from the game. There's certainly gear you can get with the cheats that comes from quests that were dropped, so this sort of thing did happen. In any case, I have the hint book and this house is not mentioned. It's not even labeled on the map. The hint book is very good about explaining everything in the game, so I think this means the house is not designed to be entered.
OTOH, there's a rumor this house is a hook for an add-on pack. |

I think that the rumor about the house being a hook for an expansion pack may come true (if an IWD expansion pack is ever released), but not because it was designed that way.
Unfortunately, IWD was quite obviously rushed out the door to meet a certain deadline, so that it would not conflict with Baldur's Gate II sales. This meant leaving parts of the game incomplete, such as that house, and also (at least, it seems so) omitting much of the content in chapters 3-5 so that they become about as long as one chapter if you combine them. IWD was a great game, and I'm still playing it (mostly multi-player now), but it saddens me to see how much better it could have been. Hopefully an expansion pack will fill in alot of the stuff that should have been there originally, as well as adding some more quests and story lines. I'm not exactly holding my breath, though. |
