quote: actually the scimitar (historically) was developed by the arabs and may have had some influencing factors from the east ie mongols etc, and it is not a fencing weapon, it was originally made as a cavalry sword much like the modern (1700's-early 1900's) saber, it was designed to hack a man out of his boots from horseback, the way the blade is designed (ie curved) it adds weight to the swing and more force, especially useful from horseback, and the fact that it has only one blade, unlike a lonsword, makes it less likely you would get injured from your own blade if it rebounded off of a shield, onto your leg, or your mount. it is typically seen as a fencing weapon in fantasy novels thanx to Drizzt Do'Urden [ 11-07-2001: Message edited by: Morgeruat ]

Thank you Wolfgir. The Mielekki explanation makes since. Can the scimitar be made of steel or does it have to be bone?
Also, since you seem to know everything, What other druid/ranger type gods are there and what are their favored weapons? |
