While I absolutely see how his comment is derogatory to many people and while I agree it was probably in poor taste to post it, you have already clearly said what you felt about the matter and Grojlach has already apologised for his faux pas quite profusely. There is no need for you continue to complain about it or to "return the compliment".

Let's just bury the matter. Groj apologised for the comment, but if you feel his apology was not enough, maybe you could take it to PM or talk to a moderator. [img]smile.gif[/img]

I guess the opinion of Fox News depends on which way you lean. Seeing as how I tend lean toward the left, it is my opinion that Fox is not my best source for objective news.

The peace, love, hold hands and sing along crowd wanted to burn our house down. Sounds like peace to me. I get sick and tired of seeing mobs of protesters doing anything but peaceful actions crying when they recieve what their actions bring upon them, claim to be holding peaceful protest like Martin Luther King did. They need to go back and check out the history of MLK they'll find out what peacful protests are supossed to look like.

I see that you are quite upset, Mel, and I think this illustrates perfectly how offensive the picture of Americans being gun-toting maniacs out to shoot anyone who doesn't agree with them comes across when the tables are turned.

I most graciosly have accepted Groj's apologies and am sure that everyone has learned an important lesson about stereotypes. And now, I consider the matter closed.

I am not at all upset. It really takes more than a few outdated stereotypes about the country I live in to do that. The old finger in the dyke thing just doesn't do it for me - if anything, it gives me the giggles.
I just felt the comment was unnecessary since Grojlach so obviously was aware of the implications of his post, remorseful of the fact that he said it, and didn't need his nose rubbed in it any further.

Oh, Mel, I am so glad you were not upset by my illustration. I would have hated to have upset you when I was merely trying to make a point by way of an illustration. I was concerned that you appeared to have taken offence. I am happy that my point has been made without anyone taking it to heart.

Still ironic though... One of my biggest pet peeves is unfair stereotyping, as a matter of fact, and the one thing I can get really pissed about; especially if the people who are targetted are not around to defend themselves or are in the far minority. Guess my tongue wasn't big enough this time to save my lighthearted tongue-in-cheek comment from being taken the wrong way though (or the lack of emoticons to illustrate it, for that matter). Believe me, if you ever see me post anything that's even remotely close to mean-spirited generalising, I'm probably trying to make a tongue-in-cheek joke in a teasing manner (Just like Melusine, I'd probably have a good laugh as well if people made tongue-in-cheek comments about fingers-in-dykes, for example ), yet sometimes missing the imaginary line between tasteful and not-so-tasteful, like this time apparently. I'm way too dismayed and going-for-the-throat when others use unfair stereotypes and seem to hold them as A Factual Truth to be using them myself in any serious ways, just take my word on that.
It's either that or evil fluffy bunnies have taken control of my keyboard.

I not only understood it; I agreed with your assessment of their objectivity, or lack thereof, in reporting the news.
