I've never played through with a monk before.... I've always used a kensi as my fighter.

Just wondering though is a monk better with a weapon eqquiped or not?

Thanks......

Monks get multiple attacks per round with their fists, but only one with a weapon. Plus, at higher levels their fists do tremendous damage.

depends on your versions of the game, originally monks got their bonus attacks whether using fists or weapons and also didn´t suffer from non-proficiency... if that´s the case for you, the scarlet ninja-to or some other good weapon works out better than unarmed attacks at lowish levels.
at high levels, gauntlets of crushing serve you better than any weapon though.

The fists are great and deadly weapons, you just have to wait. At level 9 they are considered +1, level 12 +2, level 15 +3 (IIRC).
Because I don't like my monk hiding behind the frontline until he reaches level 12 I always bought the Blade of Roses (Long Sword +3) from Bernard (Copper Coronet).
