I hope this isn't considered spam because it is basically the same topic as my other post, which is still on the IW's front page, but I know that I personally stay away from "techie" post that have several responses, and I'm hoping for a final consensus here, so bear with me...
Everyone is welcome/requested to state their opinion, but I'm especially looking forward to the responses of those who responded so informative earlier. Thanks in advance. THE SCENARIO NWN is playing a little "jerky" on my new 2GB Dell Dimension 8200 running XP with a cheap Geforce 2 MX video card and 256MB RDram. 1.) What I've read so far was that any OS, other than XP, doesn't really need more than 256MG RAM, but XP may/will actually profit noticably from an upgrade to 512. 2.) The Geforce 4ti cards (4200,4400,4600) will greatly(understatement) improve my gaming performance, and the 4200 is probably the best bang for the buck, but too little ram will degrade their performance. 3.) The price of each upgrade is between $100 and $150(if I went with the 4600, and I'd love to, the top of that range would be more like $350). This is my final question... You can only have one upgrade now and will have to wait a few/several months for the other, which would be your first choice and why? *Ronn uses his best Regis impression* "What is your final answer?" All I can tell you is what I bought (my old card didn't work with NWNs either). I got a Geoforce 4 MX 420, only cost a hundred bucks, and works absolutely fine with NWNs

BTW, I got the book today. I was getting ready to send you an email. I'm reading LotR again now, but I'm looking forward to it.

Sure thing Ronn! That Geoforce 4 MX 420 I thought was a great price, and it works beautifully with everything, not just NWNs, no need to really shell out the big bucks, but I don't know what else you are playing, so up to you of course. Hope you enjoy the book, did you see my reply in the books forum? If not go look when you get a chance.

Go for the 4400 that is the best bang for the buck.
Windows O.S.'s always benifit from more ram.. Depending on the type of ram in you box ( rambus is proprietary crap and is expensive as hell ) if you had like ddr pc2700 you could get 512 chip for $100.00 and $200 for the card That would be the same as 4600 and increase your overall performance.
