With the iminent release of the PS3 and Wii, I guess you could say this gaming generation is soon to be at an end. It got me thinking though, what has been the best game of the current generation?
Everyone has different tastes, of course so I would be interested to here what my fellow IW'ers favorite game(s) of this generation has been. Personally there have been many games I have enjoyed, mostly RPG's. So, I would say my favorite games of this generation have been: Favorite action game: Devil May Cry 3(PS2) Runner up: Resident Evil 4 (GameCube/PS2) The games everyone should have bought but didn't: Beyond Good and Evil (All) and Shenmue II (Dreamcast and Xbox). Best series comeback: Metroid Prime (GameCube) Runner Up: Resi 4 Best obsure title: Shin Megsmi Tensei: Nocturne (PS2) Runner up: Disgaea (PS2) Best RPG: Dragon Quest VIII (PS2) Runner up: Final Fantasy X (PS2) and honourable mention goes to: Paper Mario 2 (GameCube) Best PC game: Half-Life 2 So this is just some of my (Rather random ) thoughts on this generation. So, what has been everyones favorite games?

Favorite action game: Probably Halo (Xbox/PC) Runner up: Super smash Bros: Melee (I guess this belongs in this category) (Gamecube)
The games everyone should have bought but didn't: psychonauts and Conkers Bad Fur Day Best series comeback: Metroid Prime (GameCube) Best obsure title: psychonauts Runner up: Best RPG: Paper Mario: Thousand year door Runner up: Final Fantasy X (PS2) and honourable mention goes to: Fable (XBOX)-Would have been runner up, but it was too short. Best PC game: Hard to say, what would you consider "this generation"? If it's within the range of the current console generation, then I would have to say World of Warcraft is the best game. My list may change as I remember titles |

Console wise, I think the Metal Gear Solid Series was one of the best. I'm saying MGS III for PS2, and I never owned an Xbox so I really can't say.
For PC titles, I'd put my money on either Morrowind or NWN. |

Some good picks there. I've heard great things about Phsyhonauts but have never played it. I'm not really that keen on Metal Gear Solid 2, so it kind of put me off the series, although I have heard that MGS3 is much better.
