(if you have met one ) Through dating agencies, college, mutual friends etc?

I have had one date in my life set up by mutual friends...it did NOT work out! The guy my friend was dating had a best friend who had become lonely since his best friend now had a girl so we all four went out once and only once...I imagine the guy found himself some new friends or just waited their relationship out LOL.
I have always met my better halves in person and on my own...never in bars though!
I did meet my current room-mate over the internet through mutual friends. We are best friends and I would not give this relationship up for anything in the world short of him meeting someone he wants to hook up with body and soul for the rest of his life...I would then have to wish him well and hope she did not mind him maintaining a friendship with me.
When I first moved here to Texas I became lonely for more than just a couple of friends after a while and made a profile available through a people meeting service (not MSN lol) meant to target me with the ability to meet people in San Antonio rather than out here in the boonies where I live and where everyone knows everyone and so on. I was immediately bombarded with e-mails from old men and perverts wanting in my pants...truckers wanting me to take a road trip and geezers willing to foot the hotel expenses. Needless to say, I remain "friendless" today with the exception of those people I have taken it upon myself to meet when I encounter them in my everyday life. Face to face and on friendly terms. I imagine when the time comes for me to have a deeper than friendship relationship with anyone, that guy will come along and make enough of an impression on me that I'll recognize it as something with greater potential.
