I prefer Planescape over Baldurs Gate myself.(BG is stil the best RPG 'series' ever)The excellent story line and great party interaction leaves every game behind..

i totally agree as well
after one year of not bg series, i was back playing again after reading some post from the bg2 forum regarding mods and stuff . it was great. i spent 1 whole week playing it all over again and finishing it (including TOB)

The idea was good, but the execution is sorely lacking - it doesn't have anywhere near the depth of BG or BG2. The graphics aren't even particularly good. I'm playing Ultima IX right now; this is a game from 3 years ago but it still taxes modern hardware. The graphics are spectacular and the immersivity is incredible. Now that I have a machine that I can actually max-out the viewing distance and graphic detail, I'm really impressed (and less pissed off that I can't rest in this game - the night sky is just breathtaking) Back on topic - yes the BG series rules!

Myth The Fallen Lords and Myth II along with Pathways into darkness Marathon Marathon 2 Marathon Infinity and Finally Halo (Yes they're all in one big storyline) is the best series of games i know! And they range from strategy to doom-like to FPS

IMO, BG2 is the best RPG on the PC.
I haven't even finished it yet |

That game was just one great big interactive b-movie. Wouldn't even give it the honour of the name 'Ultima'. Nice graphics though. And on that note, I'd say that the Ultima series as a whole (barring that god-awful glob of rabbit-guts, Ultima IX) beats the BG series in terms of the best CRPGs of all time, but only just..

Nah - I lost interest in BG1 about halfway (yawn) and with that low interest level I never got anywhere close to ever buying BG2. I have thought about getting it one day, just so I can pester Donut by asking him how to kill Kangaax (sp) (I understand he throws keyboards in despair at newbies who ask this question).
Ultima or Wizardry are both better series in my opinion - even the Ultima Underworld series. As for the others mentioned above : 1) PST - rocks 2) IWDII - blows 3) Morrowind - intriguing but time consuming 4) NWN - good if you bought it for toolset & MP, but low to average on the SP. 5) Eye of the Beholder 1 & 2 in it's day really rocked (please don't anybody mention that there was an unmentionable 3rd effort by the game designers - some things are best left alone)
