*RANT MODE ON*
Please understand me. I LOVE our country, and the freedoms we enjoy. What upsets me is the f*ck-up that lawers and politicians have made of our way of life, by TWISTING the laws that give us the context we base our civilization on. It seems more and more, I read something like this that makes my blood boil.
Supreme Court strikes down ban on virtual child porn

Quote:
The law was challenged by a trade association for pornographers.

The law barred sexually explicit material that "appear(s) to be a minor" or that is advertised in a way that "conveys the impression" that a minor was involved in its creation.
The law in question was passed in 1996, and it was designed to
curb the number of "virtual" Child-porn sites on the 'Net. Sites where women were dressed up as children, or where the implication existed. The SPIRIT of the law was designed to remove any sign of legitimacy to the industry.

Quote:
"The aim of ensuring the enforceability of our nation's child pornography laws is a compelling one," Rehnquist wrote for the pair. "The (law) is targeted to this aim by extending the definition of child pornography to reach computer-generated images that are virtually indistinguishable from real children engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
I won't deny that it is anyone right to view pornography. What shocks me is the NEED to create a "virtual" CHILD to use for this. A NEED so strong that the Porno-Trade-Association saw fit to go to the Supreme Court.

Aparently, there are not enough porno-genres to keep them busy.

i agree not only is the supreme court "interpreting" the laws but they are oversteping their boundries and more or less bringing in effect new laws

No one had a problem with getting rid of child porn but these laws could be used to get rid of films like american beauty where actors over the age of 18 play minors that convey the impression that they had sex and also plays like romeo and juliet.
