I don't get any spam at all and I don't even use any filters. So why do you lot get it? Cos you're using the wrong bloody services! I have said this a million times but HOTMAIL IS SHITE and people continue to use it. Here are several reasons not to use it:
1) Spam 2) All personal details become property of MS 3) Crap attachment size limit 4) Crap inbox size limit Ok admittedly I use freemail.hu which is only in Hungarian so no good for everyone but I don't get any spam at all. I also use Vizzavi which is run by vodafone and get no spam there either. They are both free services. I use yahoo and that's got a better mailbox size than hotmail - I do get spam on that one because I chose to use that as my crap address. You people should learn to have a different address for crap that you give out on the net and a different address for proper emails otherwise you will never be spam free. The only time I use my yahoo account is if some site wants an address to let me download something or a bulletin board needs an address or something. This way I get 0, none, zilch spam on my proper addresses and log into yahoo once a month and delete my whole inbox. Sorry for sounding angry I'm just a little pissed off when all people do is complain instead of trying to find a solution - find a solution like I have and then your problems will be solved [ 02-03-2003, 02:03 PM: Message edited by: Vaskez ]

I get these every once in awhile myself. There's really nothing you can do other than delete them (I've tried to filter them too, but to no avail). The sad thing is that when I got the first one, I got all excited, 'cause I thought somebody (even some stranger) thought I was cute. (sigh)...

*hands Vaskie a prozac* Easy there, not everyone has your savvy with a pc, Vask!
Wellard, check your EMAIL program, rather than your isp service, for filter possibilities. OR you can try some of the many software programs on the market that promise to filter such junk, although I agree with others, that can sometimes put legit mail in your trashcan too. I'd also explain to your wife that there are alot of nuts, opportunists and sickos on the web and they'll send junk/spam just the way advertisers send stuff by snail mail to your house. They use any gimmick or ploy to make you OPEN their mail because statistically they know if you open it you'll most likely read it and then they have a chance of snaring you. 9 times out 10 they're selling something or will be looking for money eventually. Just tell your wife it's a cheap scam and let her see our answers, that was a good idea! For the record, I get tons of spam aimed at MEN as well as women, so maybe you'll get some aimed at women and your wife will see it's pure coincidence and not a torrid love affair. Hey
quote Vaskes "Sorry for sounding angry I'm just a little pissed off when all people do is complain instead of trying to find a solution - find a solution like I have and then your problems will be solved" you did not read that I was using an australian server, if ya did you would not be poping a blood vessal. I dont use hotmail for the same reasons you point out. quote cloudy "For the record, I get tons of spam aimed at MEN as well as women, so maybe you'll get some aimed at women and your wife will see it's pure coincidence and not a torrid love affair" My wife is embaressed about getting sucked in now, but I'm still angry at the nasty buggers that sent it. direct marketing of there products is understandable if not wellcome, but this crap There has got to be a decant filter out there. Optusnet does not provide one and there are very few servers out in country area I live in.

I get a lot of spam, but I don't get any in my hotmail inbox. I reckon this could be to do with the fact that I don't use hotmail for personal emails, but all the spam I do get it on AOL. I get at least half a dozen every single day. It's things like "Never Shave Again!" and "Wow! Penis Enlargement That Actually Works!". Apart from that, there's a phenominal amount for car insurance, house insurance, buying a car/house. Those of you who know anything about me know that these are of no use to me at all, it just seems so pointless....
I feel better after that minor rant... And Wellard, I suggest you just delete the spam whenever you get it, but first explain to your wife about spam and the nature of it...showing her this thread would probably be a good idea.

for everyone knocking hotmail- i like my hotmail, i have my account set up that no one gets to my inbox unless they are on my safe list. that would be why i tell most ppl to mail me at yahoo before i get to know them and wish them on my hotmail, also this way i can tell ppl my yahoo is for jokes, so if they send a constnat stream of jokes i can block their address at yahoo, but still get their important stuff at hotmail. occaisionally more than one account in a blessing.
as far as the current problem, i have no way to help. i just delete the spam in my yahoo. so all i can say is if it's from an addy you don't know, delete it.

A scorched earth policy is not always good: what about the porn that you DO want?

I didn't read the whole thread, sorry.
I don't get the gist of this at all. Is this just some bird who took a shine... or more sinister? Mouse had the same one so something must be going, otherwise she's a rampant nymphomaniac, in which case could you please mail her my details. I just don't get what can be gained by anyone with this spam, what's the coup?
