I got 2 computer which got windowXP. 1 is infected with that Blaster thing but I've remove it with symantec blaster removal tool. the thing is that next time I tried to log on into internet that blaster worm somehow will reappear and start the 60 second countdown. I tried to go windows update but it is soooooooo slooooow ( I got 56k dialup ) and that blaster worm reappear before the window update even do anything.

now I can't log into internet ( using that particular computer ) because of that worm. any suggestion?

Use the task manager (ctrl + alt + delete) to close down the shutdown timer.

I was infected with this too. Do not do a system restore as this may back up the worm and virus scanners will not clean restore files. Make sure to also remove it from your registry as it will leave it's mark there also. Using the taks manager it should be under MSblast.exe. End that task get online and download all your Microsoft updates for XP.

yeah I did that ( remove the worm and the registry thing ) but the thing is while window update is scanning for updates ( like 33% ). That Blaster worm will reappear and I've to do the whole cleanup job again.

if this continue, I might have to reformat it and change the OS into Win98ME or 98SE.

okay this time I'm lucky enough in windows update to reach the " Pick updates to install " . However, there is 41 updates to download and it will cost around 53mb. this will take me days to download all. Can anybody just tell me whicch update I need to download for the blaster thing?

You should be able to download it from microsoft.com, and get the .exe you have to run to patch it. Do this on another computer, and transfer it across.

How can you tell you have the Blaster virus ?
All the steps you have to take in order to remove it sound kinda complicated to me,.. so I'd like to know if I actually have it before I do anything about it ...
Oh, and what day do they advice you not to turn on your computer ?
I thought I read 15th of august, but the newspaper here says 16th of august..

Thx
