Sounds an interesting combination, why did you do 2 levels of barb? Was it for the extra HP?
...Here’s a thought, a very powerful level 20 wizard, who can enter rage... that sounds quite cool.

No, elves don't count their wizard class towards any possible xp penalties.

Yup, I was thinking mostly of the extra exp and the additional use of weapons and armor. I have found a greataxe +1 which is working well and I do have padded armor +1 which has given me no problem so far. I would even use leather armor. I'm looking for some +1 as I have a gargoyle scull. I don't think anyone sells it.

That is an interesting combination, to say the least, but I think, if it were me, I'd go at least 4 lvls in barb. A lvl 16 wizard is quite powerful, and the barb lvls would do wonders for your attack bonuses. As members of this board might remember, I really suck at spell casters, preferring to get right up front, even with wizards that aren't really equipped for that kind of action. But I'm thinking even I could play a spell caster along those lines...right up my alley, you might say.

If you're refering to OC as the original then yes, that's what I'm playing. I think strenght is 15? Int is also quite high. She's still not hitting too well at this point. I normally don't even use a mixed character, but I also like to play solo. I did pick up Tomi this time around though.

robertthebard, I to am crap at playing magic users, I'm having a lot of fun with a paladin/fighter/CoT at the mo, in HotU.

Variol, I also like picking up Tomi, I find he's very handy. I played a Barb (4 levels) Monk (rest) through the original game that was fun, the speed of him at the end was very quick!! Just wish I did have to cheat to change the alignment, but you won't have any such problems.
Let us know how you get on.

I have to admit that a magic user is a bit of a pain. In most cases you don't get a chance to use your area affect spells 'cos you're in melee too fast.
