I've been on an emotional roller coaster the last couple of days. As a result, this poem and several others just kind of popped out of my head today. Don't know if anyone will like it, but I'd appreciate any feedback on it anyone is willing to give. Thanks. It seems harsh at first, but it gets better - promise.

Fear
Humiliation
Fear
Predation
Fear
Violence
FEAR!
Waiting for the shoe to drop,
Hoping all the fighting will stop,
Praying for a better day,
Willing evil to go away.
Walking together hand in hand
Strolling through a somber land.
All we have how is each other:
Mother, father, sister, brother,
Husband, wife, daughter, son.
Count your blessings, every one.
Hold on tightly, live for now.
Stand with me and take this vow.
Be united heart and mind;
To our differences, we'll be blind.
Stand together not divided!
Humanity must be united!!!

Writing is a good way to feel better or at least find what is wrong and solve it

I second that Rikard, when I'm depressed I begin writing poems and I try to finish some of my stories (I read Tolkien and R. Jordan, so guess what's the story alike) It was a very nice poem btw

Very poignant poem indeed, DragonMage. Well written and a good message.

I've been feeling a bit down myself recently what with one thing and another but seeing this has cheered me up somewhat. Writing definitely helps to get rid of tension and unwanted emotion.

Thanks for posting this up.

I like that.

I write poetry when I'm really down, too. I must have grown more optimistic with age, though, 'cos I wrote my best stuff when I was young!

WOW! Just noticed I reached Hathor level!

Thanks, all of you, for the input.
Sharpedge - you must be as weird as I am for this to have made you feel better. (Actually, after writing these poems, it seems to have leached some of the bad vibes from me so I DO feel a bit better now.)
Ms. Fljotsdale - thanks to you, too, hon. Actually, I don't just write when I'm down. I've a whole collection from love to hate, fear to joy, religious, nature, morbid and happy. My family has been bugging me for ages to have it all published. This newest, though, just seemed to reflect the last week so well in my mind.
And to those who wished me happier thoughts, thank you. I really appreciate that. Just to let you know, though, I wasn't "trolling for sympathy" so much as a sense of whether or not I'd captured a feeling.
(((hugs)))

Hi, Wolfgir! I've seen you posting all over the place, but I don't think we've 'talked' yet. Merry Meet!
Yes, writing is how I keep my sanity. Sometimes, I get so many thoughts bouncing around in there that I have to write them down and sort them out.
And thanks for the compliment. I was a little afraid people wouldn't like the first part and it's still kind of 'in progress'. Nice to know not everyone thinks I'm completely "off". See ya around the forum!!!
