I've recently entered Brimloch Roon and am about to talk to Talrik. If I'm right, the Monk's Ward is in a chest near him. I haven't triggered that quest yet so I don't want to open the chest until I do. Will I know the chest when I see it? Thanks.

The Monk's Ward is WAY off, on the east coast of the Isle of Sands. You won't find it until much, much later in the game.

Hmmm...no, well, you have to go west to enter the Isle of Sands, then get past the hydra. But once you do, to find the Monk's Ward, you hang to the east side of the desert, following it up, until you come to a forested clearing. The chest is back in there somewhere. I've always found it surrounded by Centaurs, and sometimes an Azmodian Roc, although that's probably random.

A good point of reference: Find Cet's pyramid, and then go due east. Can't miss it.

After going through the back exit of Anephas's Shrine, you will come face to face with Bloodbeard. Kill him and his men, and follow the path down to the shore. There you will find Bloodbeard's boat. Take that and follow the shoreline east. You should come to a small clearing where there is a broken crate and a broken wheel-barrel. There should be a chest there also. The Monk's Ward is in that chest, I was told it looks like an amulet. If you want a spoiler on how to get to the Isle of Sands without going through Anephas's Shrine, read below.

When your standing on the docks to Brimloch Roon, turn around and jump up ONTO the doors. Face either east or west, and follow the trees while watching your map. Sooner or later, you should come to the other side of the "First Sea".

Okaaaay...

Maybe it's randomly located. Every time I'VE played the game (3 times through), the Monk's Ward (green stone, looks like a Rogue Stone) has been due east of the Pyrmaid of Cet in a forested clearing just off the Desert. Maybe others have found it in other locations. Try looking in both locations, to be on the safe side.

Deltim27, the point is, it's a long ways off yet. Giving Talrik the hook won't interfere with that quest. If you're reading the Scroll of Misinformation (i.e. the Strateg Guide), ignore what it says.

Hope this helps (if anything can).

Sazerac (why do I even bother)

Remember when I was looking for the Monk's Ward. . . well, I never did find the darn thing! Still haven't and been all over the place back in there. Am ready for Cet now - just putting it off. And who are you kidding Sazerac, we would be lost without you!!!

Saz - might be random - pretty sure that I found it over by Talrik's broken wagon which is on the west shore. Ah well, we can safely say it is in the Lost Sea area!!

If not there, somewhere in the Gael Serran, right?

I didn't find the monk's ward in Talrik's chest either. It must be in that chest east of the pyramid - the one my Assassin couldn't open with a level 8 locks. Any ideas?
