Start up icons

anyone know how to disable the start up icons that appear in lower right corner when you boot up your computer? All I can remember is you go into Start and click on Run, but can't remember what to type in the box?

I use it a lot when teaching my classes.

BTW, if its the Quick launch menu you want to get rid of, you can just right-click it, click "Toolbars", then click off the "Quick Launch" setting or any other one that's there.

Couldn't find anything there to help me out

Just want to ditch the icons that appear when I start up my computer, only thing left should be the time on the clock

Type in msconfig and go to the startup tab.

To remove Tray icons how about:

Right-click on the Start button
Select Explore
Select Programs
Select StartUp
Delete the applicable shortcuts

Note: if you have applications that produce the icons independently of the StartUp folder (like some anti-virus or system-level apps) you'll need to disable their appearance in the Tray in those programs' configuration menus.

Well, you want to be careful what you get rid of. Some TSR icons are necessary. For example, if you have a virus checker, don't get rid of this. Do you just want to get rid of them while you play the game? If so, just right click on them and delete them from the tray - they'll come back again when you next boot your machine.

Instead of deleting the shortcuts in your StartUp folder, just hold down the Shift key when Windows is starting. Let go only when you don't hear the HD moving.
