I had issues with it too. If you think the Pillar Switch is aggravating... wait till you meet the Dorn's Deep Puzzle.
These two were the only time I had no choice but to succumb to a walkthrough for IWD. |

balintherlas,
It's a perineal problem. At the height of this forum's glory, the question was probably asked in a new post about twice a week. I had no problem; because by the time I got there I'd seen this question answered about 6 times! My problem, which was shared by relatively fewer individuals was on the level before: I couldn't see the passage that led off to the right, past the Mummy's chamber, after the battle with (IIRC) Mytos. What's a party, without a song? Bards ROCK! Party On!! |

Definitely not just you, and it sounds like everyone has had this problem.
I remember not being able to find it and getting pretty discouraged with the game. I could appreciate the realism of it, that you actually had to find it. On the other hand, it's a game and I'm playing it to have fun, and spending twenty minutes finding a little switch is not fun. And so early in the game, I was afraid that this would be happening again and again. Lymond

I know your pain, I had exactly the same problem when played IWD for the first time. It even frustrated me so much, that I left IWD for two months. That problem led me eventually to IW, because I searched for IWD walkthrough and stumbled upon Ironworks IWD walkthrough, complete with maps and directions where to go. |

"The writing is on the wall."
They give you a bit of a hint if you read [mouse click] the machine works against the wall where the door opens to the final level of K's Tomb. |

Clue or not clue, the usual story is...
1) People KNOW that the switch is supposed to be on a pillar. 2) There are 3 pillars. 3) The switch is damn ~insert expletive~ small. Pixel hunting makes not a fun time. |
