I tried playing an old saved game on my new computer (w/ Windows XP Home, fresh install), and during the movies I get a perfectly normal screen... but when the main menu appears (play, exit, etc.), I get a completely black screen, save for a box of normality over which is my mouse cursor. Any thoughts as to how to fix? I posted this at Interplay's forum, but nobody's answered as of yet.

Probably a graphics driver problem. GO to the manufacturers site for your card and find XP compatable drivers. If, like me, your card is old enough that there are no XP drivers you *might* have some luck with win9x or winNT versions, but dont bet on it.

Acualy IWD is one of the easier games to make work in XP with an older card since it dosent requrie 3d accelration.

That's what I figured it was. Actually, it's a brand new card (ATI Radeon 9700 Pro). I was having issues with BG2, and that was resolved once I turned off all of the advanced features (such as anti-aliasing). I'll try IWD in a day or so to see if this has fixed my black screen issue as well. Thanks for the advice!

Success! Turning off Anti-Aliasing was the magic button! Horray for me! Hooray for school!
