Holy smokes! I could feel certain body parts crawling inside for safety as I watched that... and yes, I was wondering if he'd try a finger.
That's impressive... in many, many ways. Does inspire me to a couple of additional tests, though... like if you move a finger through quickly, will it still be safe? I also wonder how long until the table saw goes bye-bye from dispersing the excess torque. Nice find!

I hope the patent went through before that episode aired.
As for the results if you tried to put your finger through at a high speed, dunno. Though the way the system seems to work at worst you'd get a nasty nick.
