Just a fun question, having had some monsters spawn while I was swimming
in the moat around Shurugeon Castle. Have a fun screen cap of a couple of acrobatic rats in the water. |

Some of them can, some of them cannot. I have seen bats flying under water and drowning many times I have seen bats flying under water and not drowning as well I have seen other "earth dwellers" under water not drowning. I don't know when the monsters are able to plant gills for themselves and when they fail

Ive noticed monsters unable to move correctly in the water.
Ive never noticed them drown or take damage. In lave either. It seems some of the land monsters dont wnat to go in the water. But once you put them there they will start walking. None of them swim though. The flying monsters to essentially swim though. Some monsters though are not afraid of the water at all and just walk through it. Like the jungle lilies and the funguses. They walk right towards you and fall to the bottom. |

Drowning bats: for example in the Shurugeon Castle. Once you fall through the hole, you will be attacked by 4 bats. These bats do not drown. Now, flip the lever and investigate the flooded rooms on the sides. In one room, you can find another pack of bats sometimes. This pack of bats is usually under water and it drowns.

But fish and sharks do not seem to mind being teleported to dry land.
