Then use a baseball bat and bash his brains in. Much more effective.
Also, ever notice that your countries with such wonderful gun restrictions have much higher violent crime rates? Personally, I'd rather lose my skull than a lung and 2 feet of intestines and bleed to death.

But far less of armed violent crime; or of murder.
Infact, the US has the highest rate of murder and manslaughter in the world AFAIK. Says alot to me...

I've never wondered that because it's not true. You can't compare all violent crimes between countries because there are differences in definition of what is a 'violent crime' and differences in the level of crime that is reported.

One thing you can do is compare the level of homicides between different countries. Firstly because homicide is almost 100% reported and recorded (for obvious reasons), and secondly because the definition of homicide is virtually universal.

So here goes Oblivion, here are some facts - not heresay, not opinion and not NRAspeak.

The level of homicides per 100,000 people in 1999:

England and Wales 1.45
USA 6.26

If you want to check the facts look at table 1.1 here: http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/rds/pdfs/hosb601.pdf
