Quite aside from the incessant whingeing, Aerie (who I don't like having in my party-and there are posts to prove it) is not a fighter so don't bother tooling her up for combat because it'll all end in tears.
She's got bad hit points, a bad thaco and can't wear armour without losing all her mage spells. Anyone who puts her in the front line needs their head examined IMHO-you're better off getting her to summon creatures and get them to fight for her instead. However she is useful as a backup spell caster for both mage and cleric classes and will, if you get into ToB be able to cast higher level spells. I personally use her as my only cleric until one of my fighters gets to a high enough level to become a dual class fighter/cleric and another gets high enough to become a dual class fighter/mage. Then I dump her from on high. It is her versatility that is her strength-jack of all trades master of none and all that. |

I don't wildly use Aerie as a Mage, her maximum for a cleric is level 25, and thats high enough to be a good healer(keep in mind that Aerie is a Cleric, not a fighter) and a Mage of level 20, thats make's Aerie a Little offensife, just the perfect match, I say not thats she's the best cleric/mage, but Its works fine together, Some offensive in the battle, and the healing after.
So I sau She's GOOD! ------------------ Im Nik the high priest of The Sun |

I've found that Aerie can be fairly effective in combat if you cast Stoneskin and both Fire-shields, and have a backup Stoneskin ready. You'll also need a good pair of bracers and maybe a ring or cloak of protection to up her AC. Thus, equipped with a decent melee weapon (such as upgraded Storm Star), a good shield and a magic helm (if you can spare one), she can most certainly hold her own. Couple this with the fact that spell sequences can be used in conjunction with her clerical spells to produce instantaneous healing and I would say she is far from useless.

Use her as a ranged attacker. She's great with sling +5.

Aerie is a worthy addiction if you use her as a *support* cleric and mage - but if you intend to use her as a *main* healer or spellcaster in your party, you'll see she is great at the beginning, but she sucks in the end. She won't be able to cast level 7 and 8 mage spells like Nalia and Edwin, and by the time she gets level 7 cleric spells (which are available to Viconia and Anomen even before Underdark) the game will be almost over.

Yes, I will concede that Aerie's quite attractive. However, she doesn't beat Viconia for looks (or depth of personality for that matter).
