Looks like Bethesda is picking up from where Interplay left off.

Yup, they said that back in 2004

It was discussed here

According to the Fallout fansites, production is going....not so well...

doh.. nooo.. hope they dont scrap it . sigh.. another great game lost.

HOw did Oblivion go to give the company in sales? Surely it must be a good thing.

If they did well with oblivion, there is a higher chance they can do well on fallout production (comparing to interplay of course)

Regardless of the Morrowind vs. Oblivion controversy, Bethesda is still one of the better gaming developers out there. While I've never played the Fallout series, I'm quit confident that Bethesda will do a damn good job. I know once Oblivion was released, the Beth team shifted gears and went to working on Fallout.

This is old news now obviously. We now have the long wait with bated breath to see what manner of beast spews forth from the Bethesda machine that brought us the "axe is a blunt weapon" philosophy.

Just go over to AngryCun*sville and see what they think of the whole situation, I implore you.
They are constantly satirising Oblivion's shortcomings and cynically live in dread of the kind of abomination that might be created in the name of the series (aka Oblivion with guns)

The thread containing the soviet propaganda posters in particular is absolutely hilarious. Beware if you don't like dark irony however or are a devout Bethesda fanboy.

Regular visits often have me in laughing fits. Its almost like a form of therapy.

There are many ways to destroy Fallout. I hope they don't try to make it first-person. Or make the combat real-time.

My expectations is that they are going to horribly miss with this game. They always do first person games as far as I know, and I think I heard they plan to use the Oblivion engine but mod it for fallout. That sounds nothing like the Fallout I know and love. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt, but I can't help thinking of horror scenarios when I think of Fallout 3.

Edit: I especially liked this picture
