I also have power dvd but have only used it onc so i couldnt really comment on how good it is.

You are incorrect. It is well documented how XP and it's client programs (including WMP 9) clandestinely connect with micro$hafts servers.

I use:

1. Winamp 3.0 for Mp3s.
2. WMP for other media types (avi, mpg and etc)
3. Quicktime Player for quicktime files (.qtm)

I don't care much about WMP 9.0 and the pivacy issue because I don't care, as long as it does not takes up too much of my connection bandwidth.
