Hi all,
Im just getting started with dungeon craft, i must say, nice work guys. Is there a way to increase the max party size beyond 6? I understand not in the editor. I went poking around the source code, and found a variable called MAXPartySize or something like that, but i could not find on cursorary glance. Before i go downloading compilers and going to the library for programming books(its been years), would this be a simple hack, or would setting the party size to say 12 break a multitude of things? Ive started working on artwork for my design, are you all in need of stock art for designs? Should i post it somewhere when i significant amount is done? Peace, Becke |

The value 6 was chosen simply because that's the way Unlimited Adventures did it. The limiting factor on party size is how many lines will fit in the party status window at 640x480 resolution. If we can fit more names into the list, then the party can get bigger. There also needs to be room for the 1 or 2 NPC's that can join the party. It's been a long time since I ran a test with a max size party, so I don't remember if more names will fit or not. I'll do a quick test when I get a chance and see how it looks.

hi becke. welcome to dungeon craft.
i can safely say that we would love for you to put your graphics up for the rest of us to see and use. does the max party size effect npc's as well? i would assume that it does. i wonder because if the max party size were 15, for example, and you were using a solo pc, you could add potentially 14 npc's. (i like the idea of writing back-stories for npc's to help flesh out the design.) -manikus |

Thanks for the quick response.
If it doesn't fit, maybe i can just shrink the font size. Well i have plenty else to work on, and it is good to know it should be possible to change. Thanks, Becke |

Why more than six (or eight) at the same time?
I'm all new to this, but if it's simply henchmen that you're after, you can probably (as UA did) add them as friendly units in each battle. You can also do it like Final Fantasy did: Let the player juggle the characters in the party from the database, and then perhaps use "if character in party"-conditions to require the player to use and train all the party members. |
