Kol gone AWOL

It seems kol has vanished off the face of Gael Serran without leaving me the key.
Can anyone explain this, or know where the stupid sprite has parked his butt?

He's headed off to the Dragon's Spire. You'll encounter him there - twice - but he won't offer the key again.

Welcome to the board, slayer!!!

You have to complete your conversation with Kol the first time you meet him in order to get the key. If you have a save game from before meeting him, you might consider reloading it. You can still complete the Serpent Temple without Kol's key. There is just one room that you'll have to skip. It has a statue of Kerah and some chests. A few ankhs are about the best of that treasure.
