Donut - will you marry me??
(possibly a three-way marriage with Pauly though for his good post - I'd include Saz as well but he's happily married already) Anyway, THANK YOU!!! Couldn't agree more with this thread. I've tried the ignore policy already but found I didn't even bother *checking* IW after a while, simply because I'd find almost nothing there. I know that there are lots more people who've been scared off, so I really appreciate this topic being raised.

I'm not in complete agreement. Although there is a lot of spam in those threads, I think that some of them are fun to read - for instance 'the member auction 1 + 2 + 2(!)'. And I can't object to 'the peasant rebellion thread' either - if you look at it, it is remarkebly similar to the thread that lead to the formation of the O.R.T., which I personally am a member of (see the RP-section).
The 'Poke Threads' on the other hand is pure spam (and I must admit that I have posted in them

"Member Auction" was intended just to be amusing - but it just dedgenerated into spam.

I agree. Most are guilty of some spam but it's getting ridiculous...

Here's my 2c
I've been here for a fairly long time and have seen a lot of valued members leave for a variety of reasons. Sadly, that's the way things go. People move on and reprioritise their time. That having been said, we have had thousands of new members join. Some post once and disappear, but some hang about and become "regulars" on GD and other parts of IW. The result of this process is that IW is constantly evolving and to a large extent it's content, especially in GD, reflects the mix of currently involved members. I may not like the balance between trivia/spam and more serious discussion, but as long as the majority of members ENJOY GD, treat each other with RESPECT and don't blatantly spam for ranks, I'm reasonably happy to let the sillier stuff/happy spam topics go on for now. I am all too aware that we went through a period post-September 11 last year when the balance of discussion was overwhelmingly serious. During that period, a lot of peoples feelings were hurt and rifts were created that caused some people to leave IW. Unless Ziroc directs otherwise, I'll trust you all as responsible members not to let things get out of hand. What I do not want is GD to be reduced to either. a) A spam choked wasteland full of "Word Association" type threads. or b) A rigidly rule bound forum where nobody will post for fear of breaching the Tos. It's the responsibility of all of us to try our best to ensure that GD remains a place we want to visit.

I hope Ziroc will remind certain members about the rules of spam on this forum. |

I disagree with this thread entirely. People do "not" get scared off by member enjoying themselves. If there are no interesting threads being started, maybe that's because, uh, people can't THINK of any at the moment? big deal!
People are enjoying themselves at Ironworks once again (like in the old days) and now some prudes/killjoys (no offence) want to stop that? LOL!!! In fact a few people JOINED becuase of the funn that has been happening lately |
