First off let me say I have a dial up connection and have only read the first and last pages on this subject as the pages load incredibly slow for me. If I am repeating or mirroring what someone else already said I appologize.

Now, I am a moderator on another large RP site (approx. 6000 memebers). About 6 months ago we had a large influx of new younger memebers who would spam unmercifully to increase there ranks. The first thing the Administrator did was to eliminate all rankings. This worked for a while, but didn't really help much at all. What he finally ended up doing was to create a Spam-o-Rama forum which is a subforum of the General Chat. He made it so that none of the posts in this new subforum counted towards ranks, and or post counts. As moderators if we saw a thread in any of the other forums that were purely spam, or spam subjects we could dump them in there and the post count of the offenders would be automaticly adjusted accordingly. This was the solution, it dramaticly decreased the amount of spam on the entire site. Some people are just prone to spam and this gives them some place to do it. It also gives the moderators some place to put the spam without having to delete threads/posts, which I as a moderator am very reluctant to do.

This is a post about the original subject that started this thread, I know that these things have a tendency to get off track. Hopefully this post is still relevant to the ongoing subject.

So from what i can make of it the main problem seems to be people posting in the wrong forums.

Thats revative really, I find it easier to reply to someone being hit in the head with a slamon/trout or fish related creatures than contermplating a comeback to a witty remark unleashed upon me in a religous discussion. It depends upon who you know here and what your tastes in conversation are.

As long as there is only one general discussion then I believe the "span" threads as they have been dubbed have the same right to exist as others. Well until Ziroc stated no that this was not the case. Why isn't a mature discussion forum created where people could debate till their brains melt and dribble out of their ears.

But it doesn't matter now Ziroc is making his move to wipe out spammy threads I believe. His forums, his rules.

Well, if enough people want the newspaper to have cartoons taking up the first few pages, I can write all I want to the editor and my minority view isn't going to be likely to make any difference. In the name of respecting the majority view, I'll just have to accept it -- or read another paper.

But that's Donut's point, KT, I think, the purpose of this thread was to demonstraate to Z and the mods that the opinion was far from a minority one. See the link of this thread. And, Z himself has proclaimed that GD is getting too spammy.

Sigmar I'm sure that you didn't mean your comment the way it sounded. As I previously stated a couple of times. We have ALWAYS had gratuitous threads. And Ziroc has never complained about a reasonable amount of it in the forum, nor has he made any attempt, to put an end to threads altogether. Ziroc and the mods would ultimately prefer that we the members govern our own behavior, so that they do not have to get involved. Ultimately, yes, it is his decision to determine what that reasonable amount of spam is, but if you really understand this forum and Ziroc's feelings toward this forum and it's members, you would know that he is not going to wipe SPAM in it's entirety from the face of the board forever. His decision may not make everyone jump up and down and shout for joy, but I'm sure it will be fair to everyone concerned.
