No that wouldn't have been me. I've never played multi . Just thought I'd give him a silly little name. Was going to get the brown bear and call him Growly... heh

They made this game with 3ed rules in mind. 3ed rules done use the same rules with scaling experience and rating the party against the monsters, and the xp progression is also correct.

If you played PnP 2nd edition and 3ed you should go up in levels about the same pace (if you beat monsters that follow your level)

I think it's nice that they implemented the rules almost 100%, with only a few modifications (not like POR2 which used a mix of 2. and 3. ed rules)

The fact that you go up quite fast (even though you only get about 10% of the PnP xp for battles) is because you have so many fights. If you had that many fights in PnP it would
1: become boring
2: take a h.. of a long time, as fights do take some time in PnP.

Another little thought - for both sides of the debate. If you play a multiclass character, say a level 15 barbarian, then add a level of thief- don't you think 15000 XP is a lot to add for a level one thief, when a fresh character can progress to a level two thief for 1000XP and have more thieving ability? This XP scale balances out with multiclass.

I think it works well in that regard too.

What you choose to specialize at when you level is your business, but you still are a level 15 character. You still have all the abilities of those 15th levels, even if you are a 14 fighter, 1 thief going for your second thief level...
