I'm reading up on TTT before i go see the movie and am seeking a spoiler of sorts. Is there a scene that depicts the only worthy duel in the entire LotR trilogy? That being the battle of Gandalf and the Balrog at the peak of Zirakzigil.

Or does Gandalf remain tight lipped?

In the book there isn't much said, the scene in the movie shows it better than the book describes it..I think.

All in all it was a great part of the movie
I think the Scene with Gandalf contesting Sauruman for the will of Theodin was a nice addition. I would have liked to see more of that particular contest at Isengard...but ...they didn't film that part.

Excellent. That sounds like the only bit in the movie that may be better than the book. Can't wait to see it.

Yeah man! That part, interestingly at the beginning of the movie, had me wanting to stand up in my chair and shout prasies to Peter Jackson! I promise that I did not even blink once during the whole dang part!

It got me remembering, and it got me right back into the action from the first few minutes. It's almost made for those who always complained that the fall of the Balrog was the biggest cop-out ever in the history of much-anticipated fight scenes. It's excellent.

Tanc - I wanna see it again now!

Gandalf will not contest with Saruman until the next movie. Shelob will also be in the next movie. The battle with the Balrog takes place at the very begining of The Two Towers. This was my favorite book of the series and they did a great job with it. I have seen it twice and both times I thought..."Wait! 3 hours isn't up yet!"

What was Tolkein thinking though?! How could he kill off ALL of the Balrogs! Its just not fair, they are cool. The Balrogs should live I tell you!! Long live the Valaraukar!!!
