~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Well, I believe that once you give them the swords/ale, the quest is done unless you're a ranger. If you're a ranger and have the stronghold, you may find them later and have to rescue them but if you gave them the swords/ale then you lose your stronghold. Any class can rescue them after giving them the swords and/or ale. But I don't know any details after that.

* * * ** * * * * * ** * * ** * you have to go to the cave (the only one in Umar hills), and they'll be there, doin stuff, and then you have to rescue them. either that, or during the ranger quest, the same thing will still happen. don't quite remember which. |

I always gave them the swords, but I figured that the beer wouldn't mix too well with kids and deadly weapons. I didn't lose my stronghold for this, but I did have to rescue them.
