I'm hoping somebody out there knows where to go once you have deactivated the lightning bolt traps in the room. (spoiler) I realize that the pattern needed to deactivate the trap is located on the table in the room above. But where in the world do you go from here. Many thanks to those who respond.

Ok, if you've deactivated the lightning bolt trap properly, you have to return to the table room. Pull the hammer on the dwarven statue just to the right of the door as you're facing it. A center staircase in the middle of the previously hidden room will open, leading down further into UDD.
