I'm still playing Deathstalker 1.6 with my standard party (M-Hum-Lord, M-Felpur-Sam forgot to change sex to female, Human Valk, M-Elf-Ranger, F-Elf-Bard, and M-Elf-Bishop) but seeing all the great stuff and how Sams have the Mage spellbook "feature", I am already planning a new party, which will probably be:

M-Dwarf-Lord front
M-Dwarf-Monk front
M-Felpurr Ninja or Rogue - left flank
F-Felpurr Ranger(1 level) -> Gadgeteer right flank
F-Elf Bard center
F-Elf Bishop center

I may make the bishop male and turn one of the other guys female.

But the real question is whether to have a rogue or ninja. I am intrigued by backstabbing and many new daggers available in mod (it will be a dagger-DEX-SPD rogue), but I'm cringing at the prospect of having only 3 spell casters in the group, although I know Bards can get a portal now, so having at least 4 portalers seems okay. Still I usually rely heavily on somebody usually the valk casting stamina or rest all while the front guys fight or defend, the bishop casts offensive spells and the bard blasts away with an instrument. Now getting rid of valk and ranger, I feel I maybe in a lurch. Anybody know if there is a stamina or rest all gadget?

This will be another import party, so there should be no problems with monk apprenticeship or changing the ranger to gadget after 1 level.

I can see your point, hesitating between a rogue and a Ninja. Personally I'd take a Ninja any day, he can do all the stamina-casting and be an absolute monster from the middle game onwards. What puzzles me is the ratio for the one level of ranger before you make a gadgettteer. I'm always on the look-out for tips, so please enlighten me, gr. from Holland, Wim Denie

I'm not sure I understand, but since it is an import party, you cannot make a gadgeteer in Wizardy 7, you have to do a change class or make a new character in Wiz8. Since imported characters have much better skills and attributes than a new character and get 5 free levels of experience, I will change class instead of making a new character. Ranger is pretty close to Gadegteer stats only need 5 pts each in INT and DEX, which you should be able to get with the bonus from being imported and 3 from level up to level 2. You could also use bard->gadget. Might be a better choice since some of the equipment in the DS mod have strange usage requirements.

I also think ninja is a better choice, but I alwasys wanted to try a rogue to since a lot of people seem to like their combat skills and want to see how good he is with dual daggers.

Oh, hadn't realised that the gadgetteer had to be part of an import party, my fault, didn't read carefully enough. Thought it was something like starting a bishop as mage for the resistances. Yeah, a bard might do as well or better. I tried a rogue, he's nice enough but it is a chore to get 60 in artifacts to be able to use the mirror/magnet. BTW, as an afterthought, the senses requirement of the ranger might be better for a gadgetteer than the bard's INT and DEX. Gr. Wim Denie

In my current game with Deathstalkers I prefer a Ninja ( for me it's a fairie ). That guy saved my parties life the fourth time now.
He's in the back with thrown weapons only. Lot's of criticals.

Have you started a game with 1.6. If not ...

There is a Rogue on the beach. I think he's a good one. So you can habe both in your party : Ninja and Rogue.
