Just out of curiosity... Eye of the Dragon... You rescue sone guys... One of them, Marchon of Waterdeep, has a Flaming Longsword +2. And the others have some sweet stuff too.. Mage Dagger + 2, etc...) Anyone out there ever let these 4 fellow adventures have a little "accident"? I would never dream of actually killing them for their oh so juicy equipment, but if a Troll just happened to rip their gizzards out just before (tragically) I was able to reach them... I would have to take up their blade and use it with the same honor they showed in Death yah? I would owe them that much wouldn't I?

IIRC, Marchon and friends engage all trolls and lizard men but only if you are on the screen with them, and the monsters do not fight them, they only go for your party. This means that if you run round the corner when you see a battle raging, Marchon will stop fighting them until you return, and their party will only die if you kill them. So unfortunately a little troll accident is never going to take place.

BTW welcome to the board

Thanks for the Welcome!

Drat... ...and an Errant Fireball is probably just as likely to result in Reputation Loss as an accidental knife between the ribs. *sigh* Do these four ever show up again? They are not even cool enough to guard you while you sleep... I did not get attacked, but neither were they there when I woke up.

Actually an "errant" fire ball will turn them hostile and you don't really want that. I recall things differently from Jim, but my experience was based on a HOF mode game. When I released them, they made a bee-line for the nearest yuan-ti, troll or lizardman. What's different is that they kept fighting, even after they dropped out of my lne-of-sight (i could see the feedback on their combat). This may only be HOF dependent as I didn't release them in my normal difficulty games.

You get far better stuff soon enough anyway, not really worth fighting them over

Tobias, there's no reputation loss in this game for doing nefarious deeds, so I doubt if your paladin will become fallen. But can you look at yourself in the mirror at night and claim that you truly did your best to save the poor sods?

They are still hanging around - they just automaticly go back to where you found them ( just outside the room)
