Okay, I'm going up against Harpies and Greater Mummies. I learn my lesson about the dreaded spells of Hopelessness and Panic. I reload, cast the spell hope and courage on my group and still some of my characters get zapped with these spells. So, what is the best defense?

The best defence; low saving scores. So cast some recitations chants. Also, bards have a song for limited resistance, Otherwise, the only thing i see that helps would be the 7th level cleric spell "sanctity of the mind" and the 9th level mage spell "mind blank."
How is tough with thise wailing virgins. The protection from sonic attacks don;t help. "sanctity of the mind" wards off the hoplessness but does nothing to stop the frightening damage their war cry dishes out. Anyone found any way to resist the virgins' cries? |

The only thing I found Leafy is to have every one of your characters be able use range weapons and when you see those Wailing Virgins keep on shooting until she is dead. I found that unless I am hastened my fighters have a hard time reaching them with melee' weapons before she casts several spells. So hit 'em with arrows and bullets.

If none of that works have your cleric prescribe prozac, paxil,or zoloft perhaps in conjunction with zanax or adivans.

Paladins work well
They're immune to fear. I believe there are other special abilities or items for other characters that give you immunity to panic/fear and all that but I forgot where I saw it. ------------------ Why? |
