I see that many players here are going solo, anybody who beat the game as solo? please lets be honest it sounds very very very insane to me ) I tried to solo with a mage but it was really hard also I think that playing without NPC interactions and a game without romance is a little boring that's my opinion of course, what about yours?

Yeppers, I've beat the game soloing.
It's not really so hard, just you get into the higher levels.
It's actually easier if you have ToB, cause then you'll gain good abilities in the higher levels, which will help you alot.

see ya!

Can I have advice on a Solo Sorceror anyone?

I can do it, I mean the first Bhallpowers test in the Pocket Plane, but I really need help with choosing spells.

I choose good spells, but I would like some ESSENTIAL spells and items for a solo sorceror or mage etc. Thanks!

Amulet of power/robe of vecna/staff of the magi/boots of speed/staff of fire/pale green ioun stone/belt of inertial barrier/cloaks of: mirroring, displacement, non-detection/ring of gaxx/ring of wizardry/erinne sling+4, bullets+3 and 4

The battle for the staff of magi is very easilly won if you have project image, and skull trap. Think about it.. ;B

Many of the godly equipment in bg2 and tob, such as the ring of gaxx is essential for countering the many annoyances thrown your way. My sorcerer is already a god, either at level 34 or 40..but...you still get a semi challenge if you boost the difficulty up to insane and install the improved versions of the bhaalspawns, including ascension mod and demogorgan. Try it

I made myself a drizzt. That was fun. My ownly reluctance was in killing drizzt and cattie brie, wulgar, bruenor, regis...

I think going solo should involve a class with thieving abilities to disarm traps and pick locks to chests. Using a pure sorceror would lead to some restrictions in this area (unless you use a fair number of Knock spells and healing when you trigger those traps).

I'd like to know if there are alternatives to a thief class - maybe I'm overlooking something.

Do not forget that Sorcerer/Mages have a lot of useful protective spells. While that solo Barbarian is screaming as he triggers an Imprisonment trap, and that solo Archer yelps as the spike trap goes up his a**, the Sorcerer/Mage is prancing around with Stoneskins, Mirror Images, Spell Immunities, etc... ...

Knock handles locks.

You can find my personal spell list from the links in my signature.

How does a Mage approach a trap knowing he will take damage when triggered? Does stoneskin protect? Guess I should just try and see!!!
