Hi I'm a new poster....on this board.
I wanted to comment regarding the bard's song. I have noticed that it only works in a straight line. If a character is even slightly around a corner it fails. Its like microwave. Line-of-sight. At level 15 its limit extends out to about 20ft. I have read a lot of comments comparing Icewind Dale II to BGII. But IWD and BG set the two different courses for each. Both BGII and IWDII are true to their predecessors. Both styles of game are good. No complaints here. |

try this, when your other chaaracters are fighting the monsters, try to let your bard move in circles on your other characters. I find this helps.

On my game, everyone in my party within the bard's vision circle is affected. But if they turn a corner, they exit the bard's vision. This could be your problem. One thing that may help is the lingering song feat. Even if the bard stops singing, the effect of the song lasts a little longer.

you can even exploit it a bit (mild exploit), by playing bardsong for a round, casting a spell or 2, then playing another chord, then shooting etc. just keep strumming a chord and letting it resonate while your bard keeps fighting.
I think the 1st and 3rd bardsongs are the best. ps. WHY cant bards use magic missile ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

No magic missile
My Bard has high DEX and I am using her as sniper (Rapid Shot etc). At the beginning of fight I pause and use first song, then second (and the first one keeps going because of Lingering Song, then third etc...). All songs are in, I click his bow, aim and unpause. When song effects disappear I pause and repeat. Song effects kicks in as soon as I play song and last because of Lingering song. In most cases fight is over before song effects disappear. In 95-99% of cases two songs are enough. |

I'm not really partial to the bard class since Haer D'ealis was just so much better than my bard...But the level 11 song is real useful i heard...and to reply to karlosovic, the Lingering Song feat would be relly useful for that...unless of course somebody else already said that...then it would be not as useful to you...but anyways...Bards can't cast magic missle because...they suck!

They can't cast magic missile, that's the trademark of the pure arcane caster, but they get some healing magic instead.
