Does the Crusade bonus only work when a char is still a paladin or does
it stay? (I've just gotten to Skull Castle, lots of undead) Something annoying in the game is that some traits only seem to appear after you reach a certain level in the guild so, if you change class before the trait becomes available, you won't get it. (At least that is what it seems like to me) |

It works all the time no matter which class you are. If you are elf then the bonus is applied after the elven bonus. Therefore, You get 10% XP more because you are an elf and then the amount of XP doubles because you have the trait
(edit) You MUST be a paladin if you want the trait! The trait is offered ONLY to paladins (Temple, guild level 5)! Then you can change role. The trait will continue working. [ 05-07-2003, 08:06 AM: Message edited by: Radek ]

Thanks Radek.

Err, lemme rephrase - i changed classes on some chars before crusade was available. (Is there a list of what traits become available at what level for the guilds?)

It§s somewhere in the "best tips". IIRC then:
The Temple: Artifacts - level 3, all roles Cabalist - level 4, all roles Crusade - level 5, only paladins Healer - level 5, all roles Quickspeak, level 5, all roles Oath of Scrolls, level 6, all roles The Mages Guild: Artifacts - level 3, all roles Occultist - level 4, all roles Quickspeak - level 5, all roles Oath of Scrolls - level 6, all roles The Warrior Guild: Blacksmith - level 3, all roles Doublestrike - level 4, all roles Ironmight - level 5, all roles Stunning Blow - level 5, only barbarians Fletchery - level 5, only rangers Oath of Swords - level 6, all roles Bushi Dojo Tiger Strike - level 4 (or 5?), only zenmasters?? Spirit Shield - level 4 (or 5?), only zenmasters?? (does not work in unpatched game) Chi Master - level 5, only zenmasters, must(?) be level 15 Enlightement - level 6, only zenmasters, must be level 18 The Thief Guild: Merchant - level 3, all roles Deadfall - level 4, only thieves?? Iron Lung - level 5, only some thieves?? Backstab - level 6, all roles??

Danke schoen!
i could say I wish I'd known/looked for those before, but then knowing "everything" beforehand can spoil the gameplay sometimes. (Even though the traits are useful to know - thinking more of some of the other tips/cheats etc) |

What do you mean? Traits are the only things that matter.
Remember that the special roles in the game have so called high level traits. They are quite good, but you have to take your characters to level 18.

Couple of things to change:
The Thief Guild: Deadfall - level 4, thieves & bard ( maybe barbarian too ) (also in Bushi Dojo) Backstab - level 5, become assassin or to all roles at level 5 Iron Lung - level 5, barbarians and bards (maybe thieves & assassins too) Bushi Dojo: Tiger Strike - level 5, available to zenmasters and samurai. Spirit Shield - level 6, to all classes (worked with my unpatched game ) The Warrior Guild: Ironmight - level 4, all roles I hate that I cannot get Crusade before crypt! I changed my priest into Paladin, when I remembered that he could get Crusade then... But he only get that Noble Cause. Well it's good too, cause it raises damage and hit against undead.

there is the ultimate (ok maybe not THAT ultimate) trait, Enlightenment, which u can only get when u become a ZENMASTER and u ascend to the 18th lvl right?
hmm, crusade really sounds like a power trait, but pity that i only haf it on 1 of my characters!

I don't think Spirit Shield was available to Missy as an Assassin. It didn't show up until she switched classes.
