I wanted to create my own party to play baldurs gate 2. I know you can play multiplayer and create all 6 characters, but is it advised to do this or will I miss out on stuff. I just really care about finishing the game not any side quests. Thanks for your info.

How about if I just make 4 players. Can I take in one NPC at a time and do their sidequest? I just want an archer...2 fighters...and a mage/thief...maybe a sorceror. Sound OK?

You can start in multiplayer and then move the saved game to single player [mpsave folder to save folder] then pick up npc's, leaving your 'home-made' characters standing and waiting for you...Keep in mind you don't want to do this for long as the charactor's experience will fall way behind yours...You want to be settled by the time you set off to spellhold and remember one charactor should be disposable so you can pick up Imoem...

Aside from the NPC quests and dialogue (which you will missed), if your primary goal is to power your way through the game ASAP, then there is no harm creating an entire party of PCs. And yes, to be more flexible, change your multi game to single player once you have created it. The folder copying method works, but so does ShadowKeeper.
