This RPG is about guys that are on a boat. (Old Salts are people who spend all their time at the sea. Your charecter does not need to be old to join.) The boat starts out in a country named Broe. The charecters are crewmembers on a freighter ship. The ship is called the Bob E. I will play as the captain and a crewmember to help the story move along. Whenever we dock, you can join or leave. There will be some twists and turns. The captain can either like you or not like you depending on your actions.
There are certain positions you need to take. Here they are:

Crewman- carries around boxes and other of the captain's needs
Watchman-watch for threatening features(storms, ships, etc.)
Janitor-cleans the area
Weapons personnel-mans the cannons, guns, etc.
At certain times all crewmembers will be needed. At these times the captain will shout,"All hands on deck!" At these times I beg you to pay attention. The captain will take someone at random times to stay by him. This works sort of like an employee of the month type of thing.
Here is my charecter:
Name: Phobic
Crewmember: Watcman
Facts: Lived in Broe for most of his life. He tries to think of himself as a tough man, so he joined the Bob E. to put his strength to the test.
Story: He finds out that the Bob E. is a new ship and that he is the first member to sign up. The captain walks over to him and says,"Your first duty is to watch for anyone who looks interested in joining." Phobic nods his head and gets to work.

Ok I am interested.
----------
Name: Bakilas
Crewmember: Crewman
Facts: A womanising gambler Bakilas managed to rack up some major debts with a rather unfriedly group one night. He soon decided that it was best to get out of town for a while until everything cooled off. He grabbed his meager possesions and gained employment on the Bob E.
Bakilas has travelled far in his life and has experienced many things. He has lost many friends and this has made him a very private person, he is cold to people and avoids getting close to anyone.

Story: Bakilas lifted the sack of possessions and headed towards the ship. "Well looks sturdy enough, I guess she will have to do."

I'm in too, sounds cool

Name: Konneke (Koh-nee-kah)
Crewmember: Janitor, since no one else is
Facts: As unpredictable as the sea, Konneke is a "floater" and wanders from town to town looking for odd jobs and excitement. Because most people don't like giving manual jobs to women, her hair is cut short and hidden underneath a large brown cloth cap. Her loose cream-coloured cotton shirt and baggy dark-brown cotton pants, which are tucked into her weatherworn boots, also help hide her girlish features. Only about 5'5", her petite figure hides how strong she actually is. Konneke has freckles dotting her slightly tanned nose, and has keen emerald eyes. Her short hair is a strawberry blonde colour. In her left boot is hidden a small throwing knife, and under her left shoulderblade is a small tattooed symbol written in an obscure language.

Story: Emerald eyes peered out from under the worn brim of the cap. Konneke scratched her freckled nose then sauntered over towards Phobic. "You in need of help? If you are, I'm in need of work," she said in a gruff, youthful voice.

I'll join.
---

Name: Aenyral
Crewmember: Weapons personal
Facts: Aenyral is a weapons specialist, wanderer and occasional adventurer. He has a grudge against mercenaries, other dogs of war, and pirates, for reasons he refuses to disclose. It is a very personal reason, by the looks of things, and he has many scars to his name, which he is also silent about. He is a young, handsome man, who wears a loose, silk white shirt, and tight black breeches, tucked into study boots. A long, tan & grey, weatherworn, patched overcoat, shredded at the edges by the elements, with slits at the ends and belted around the waist protects Aenyral from Mother Nature, a trusty jacket he's had for years. Deep pockets are sown at the sides, as well as inside, letting him keep documents safe and secure.

Aenyral's eyes are a piercing greyish-blue, and his hawk-like gaze often unnerves others. He is gaunt, and finely chiselled, with a crow of black hair, and could be considered attractive, were it not for the two shallow scars that crisscross his left cheek. The scar is shaped like a cross, and the horizontal gash runs under the lid of the left eye, whilst the vertical gash runs from temple to jaw. A studded silver with a sapphire teardrop hangs from his left lobe, even as two twisted golden hoops (18 karat) adorn the top of the left ear and a single band of silver around his smallest left finger. On his left arm, is a tattoo of a sea serpent, it’s coiled body revealing a white lily underneath it. His complexion, once pale, is tanned from working hard hours under the sun, rather then staying inside all day studying. Aenyral carries a rapier and a dirk, strapped to his side and in his boot, respectively.

Story:
Aenyral strolls up the plank crisply, casting his gaze around with a critical eye. Nodding to himself, he mutters "This'll do, for now." and heads over to where Bakilas is. "I hear ye're recruiting, aye? I'm a good man with ye ol' blade" Aenyral taps his rapier hilt with one hand, and nods to the cannon, "And ye ol' guns." He nods again, "What do ye say? Yay or nay? I need work and 'taint much else to do 'round 'ere or 'round these parts. I've been lookin' for a good ship and a decent crew to sail with for a time, and ye seem as good as any."

ooc:skydracgrrl, I leave it to you to decide.i want everyone to take note that phobic and the captain are different.from now on the captain will be in blue.
ic: "All hands on deck!" the captain shouts and he waits for everyone to report. When everyone is present he says,"We will set sail in about an hour. I suggest you socialize now for it will be tough while we're out in sea." He then walks over to his cabin.

Bakilas watches the captian walk off and is comforted by the fact he seems capable. Not wanting to talk to anyone he talks a quick stroll around the ship.

Keal walks over to Konneke, and looks over to the ocean and says,"Its going to be a long trip,do you think you can really disguise yourself this whole time?"He turns around and begins to walk away.

ooc- *shakes fist at Keal* It's not that easy to figure out she's a girl! Oh well, I'll go with it, I guess...

ic- Konneke bristled and glared at Keal's back. She had been disguised as a boy for as long as she could remember, and rarely had anyone find out her true identity. It was a bad sign that someone figured her out so quickly. Knowing that most men were superstitious and considered a woman on board to be bad luck, she steeled herself and followed after Keal.

"Oi, hold on a moment," she called after him. Once out of earshot of the others she asked him "I don't know how you figured it out so quickly, but I figure it's better to admit it than start something. I guess you aren't much of a boatman, because most men consider women onboard to be bad luck. So if you could just keep this little tidbit of information to yourself, I'd appreciate it."

Konneke looked up at him from under her cap, her arms crossed and her legs planted firmly, showing she wasn't going to take 'no' for an answer.

To the others it merely looked like Keal had said something offensive to the youth, and like most young men he had gotten riled up and wanted to deal with the issue.
