I read the skill description on crafting weapons and crafting armour...and it seems to me it's completely useless! You can't craft anything magical...then why bother having the skill at all? Does teh skill give any other bonuses i might have missed? If not, It isn't exactly good, IMO

It was requested a lot in the forums. I like it only as a roleplaying option though and only at low levels. Sounds quite cool making your own weapons IMO.

I do think there are bonuses involved at some places looking at the description, why would there be a reason to make a elmwood bow shaft for example. The manual also says there might be other recipes than listed to discover.

I wanted to use it in my module but I think few low level characters spend their skill points there.

The only good use i have found for it so far is in changing the color of armors and robes, and that can be done without expending any points in the skill.

Actually thats not ture. If you want to make major changes to your armour then sometimes you can fail your check and the changes will not apply.

TDC - changing the COLOR only is not a major change. I've never failed a skill check to do that.

Im not talking about changing the color. i'm talking about making physical changes to the armour (changing the shoulder guards, gauntlets, torso etc) if you try to make all of those changs with out some skill invested then you can fail.

guess we are talking about 2 different things.

But can't you just try again? Or does a failed check destroy teh armour or something??

LOL ... no. my original post refered to ONLY changing the color. You are right that changing the physical makeup of the armor DOES entail a skill check that CAN be failed.

Guess I read your post wrong then. Sorry!

To Tyrion: Its doesn't destroy the armour or weapon it just cancels the changes and restores your original armour configuration.
