Since last night weird things are happening. My comp keeps connecting to the internet...automatically. I can disconnect, but a minute later it connects to the net again, all by itself.

My startpage is some newsflash page, but it doesn't go there when it connects by itself. Instead i can still see my desktopbackground, except with some annoying popups on the screen. Mostly ads from some casino and.... popup killers.

My question: could this be caused by what they call "trojans" ? And if so, what's the best way to get rid of this ?

It's really pissing me off now, cause i can't even play games anymore without getting connected to the net. When it happens, my game is transfered to the task bar, and i'm once again looking at those friggin ads.

Do you have NAV or any other virus killer?
If so, run an anti-virus scan. I'd also use Ad-aware as well.

Could be particularly bad spyware, or a virus. Run adaware, then a decent virus scanner.

Whoa there dude, i can still post, i'll kill you later for that.

I HAD Norton antivirus, but i recently uninstalled that, because it started doing virusupdates 4 or 5 times a day. I guess that's where the whole thing started then. Maybe something corrupted Norton, and is now having a ball in my comp. I'll go and check it right away.

I let Ad aware have it's way, and it quarantained 86 cookies that had no business in my comp. Mostly commercial ads. I killed them all, and everything appears to be normal again.

I'm just curious how this crap gets passed my firewall.
