Many of my aunts and cousins are very good hunters. But thats not the same as having to hump equipment mile after mile. Its not pleasant. As for being drafted, women who want to be soldiers dont have to wait to be drafted; they can sign up any time they want to.

I agree that physically, men are stronger than women (generally speaking), but I was arguing against the other implication of your post, namely that men are mentally stronger as well, which IMNSHO is a load of BS. Caleb, you completely miss the point. Believe me, I KNOW that men suffer rape and abuse too - it is one of the most terrible things on this world. In our days, there has been some small progress made in creating an environment where women feel safe enough to speak out against abuse, and even find the courage to talk of their own experiences. In the case of men or boys being abused or raped, however, there is no such social acceptance, and most of them will repress the experience for fear of the reactions they'll get. That is not the point of my argument. My point is, in the majority of the cases, men are raped by OTHER men, not by women. There is an unbalance in the power structure. Almost everybody knows a woman who's suffered abuse at the hands of a man - so a man saying that women in general are weak, MENTALLY weak, is disgusting to me.

I Do not believe that the "draft" is necessary in the current situation that the USA is in. So I voted Nay, Should it ever become necessary to defend the US homeland against a direct threat Im pretty sure there would be more volunteers than could be processed.
In the beginning when the country was fighting for existance and communicatio and education was so poor, the Draft was necessary. Being raised old school (ie male chauvenist pig) I usualy would say women as the mothers of our children should be exempt..however, women fought their own war for equal rights so lets by god git it to them, they earned it. What I do detest is in the US Military women were given and are still given preferential treatment and so in the field rarely earn the respect they deserve. Women are held to lower physical standards for the same jobs that men are doing, this is wrong, and women are held to lower acedemic standards as well when testing for the same positions as men, all in the name of meeting some arbitrary quota. I will say this is not just true for women in the US military though, there are these same type of preferences given for various racial groups as well. I long for the day when the US gets over quota's and preferential treatments that allow unqualified or less qualified people have positions that truely qualified people a bumped out of. |

I do however seem to find that sometimes it takes a little more provocation to really push SOME women to the point of ferocity required in dangerous situations.....I think this is probably just because of the type of women I am usually in the company of though. |

Earthdog, it's been proven that women have HIGHER PAIN THRESHOLDS THAN MEN. That means they can withstand more pain.
Thus it's men that are the crybabies, not women. |

Plus Earthdog, you'll never know the courage it takes to be a woman, living in a world alongside men that are stronger, more randomly aggressive, and less emotionally expressive, and what it take to break through the "glass ceiling". I think women who go forth into male dominated careers have exeptional courage. A woman that succeed in a male dominated area, has to be twice as good as her male counterpart to even get status quo.
That takes courage. Attitudes like yours are outdated, negative and reliant on firsthand information, rather than collective knowledge. See ya. |

I don't disagree with you per se, but I think you are coming down on ED too hard here. In your defense and support of women, please do not do so by denigrating men. Men and women each have strengths and weaknesses Men are better equipped for some things and women others, exploring those differences should not draw attacks from radical feminists nor male cheauvenist pigs. |
