Laugh you may but:

1.The English never thought we'd beat them at cricket either.

2.The Americans never thought we'd take the Americas cup.

3.It's a team game. Australians clean up in team games.

4.We held the World Champions to a draw in a not-so-friendly friendly.

5.We beat Brazil.

6.It is the fourth most popular football code in Australia. Wait til it is third.

7.Rugby Union for many years was third and we were world champs.

8.FIFA know it is a matter of time before the cup heads down under, so keep avoiding according Oceania a conference finalist, or setting schedules in stone for more than a week to adequately prepare.

9.The English sort of invented it. We have made a national pastime of beating the English at their own game. (Hockey, cricket, Rugby League and Union, Tennis... etc etc)

10.All of the above.

Oh yeah, via China --> Italy.

Refined, or invented the modern manifestation of Football/Soccer.

I think even the Aztecs kicked something around the ground didn't they?

Just a question... How many times did Australia actually participate in the WC tournament in the past?

The Auzzies are all Brits that got kicked out of this country. Only aboriginis are true Australians.

I know it's posted in jest, but a huge percentage of Aussies are not of Anglo-Celtic descent, let alone the tiny minority with convict ancestors.

Most of our footballers (soccer players) have usually been from Southeastern Europe. Italy, Croatia, Slovenia etc.

It was for many years in some circles rather unkindly referred to as "wogball" for this very reason.

Thats terrible. Yes, lots of Auzzies come from croatia, to name two famous ones Mark Bosnich and Mark Viduka.
