I used to keep goldfish, regular and fancy tailed varieties, but they take mucho cleaning and I was moving around, so after my last one died I got rid of the tanks and filters and such.

My least favorite thing was the leaking tanks...ugh..would always leak during the day when I was a work or at night and I'd be scrambling to rescue my fish.
I ended up with several 2 gallon bowls for holding the fish in emergencies or when I was cleaning the tanks. Had a 20 and a 15 gal tank on a stand at one time.

I have a fish bowl with one Siamese Fighting fish in it. The Fish is almost a year old and is named after a BG character.

I have no fish tank but I got aquanox (programmed by Fishtank Interactive). Does that count?

But when I get my own flat I plan to buy me one.

Wow more people replied than I thought

Johnny - Yeah you have to learn a little about certain species of fish before you stick em in a tank together, I learned that lesson too when I bought these tiny little striped eels. Guess they looked too much like worms to the other fish. Doh! Oh, and I do not punch my fish when they fight, just think about it

Larry - Do you keep them in the little bowls or an actual tank? If so, what size? I ask because of all the different fish I have had, the supposedly "easiest fish" to have (betas) I had no luck with. Went through three of them, they only lasted about 3-4 months each. I have put some thought into why, and I think it is because of the particular tank I kept them in (one at a time of course), was a 10 gallon Hex. So it was a small tank, but deep. From what I remember reading of beta's natural waters, they mostly live literally in like big mud puddles, prefer shallow water.

Niceworg - What kind of heater do you have? I find the ones that completely go under the water are the best, as the outside temperature does not affect them like it does those that sit on the rim of the tank.

Night Stalker - Algae farm? errr... why?

Lady Blue - How did the tank overflow, was he using some kind of hose from the fawcet to fill it? If so, we can't do that here (wish I could!), too many chemicals in the water. I have to fill up 10 empty water gallon jugs ahead of time, and treat each of them with Amquel Plus before I pour them into the tank.

StormyMystic - Power outtages suck when you have fish. I lost about four of them myself in the summer when the power went out for 6 hours. My fault really, as the tank was so full of fish (they kept having babies!), many large as well, so it was actually the lack of air (no air pump running) that took them down. Was the most miserable thing for me to sit there, in the dark, by myself, looking by candlelight all my fish at the top of the tank trying to gulp air Oh, what was the "mishap" with the beta and the pump/filter? Because they are not strong swimmers, and a powerful filter will suck them right in.

Someguy - That's pretty cool the beta is living in the vase with the flowers!

Dragonshadow - Hey hampsters are cool, I had a ton of them too LOL

Elif - I tried the living plant thing too, but I kept getting snails (guess the eggs are on the plants when you buy them, but are very hard to see if you don't know what you are looking for). I wish I had an undergravel filter. To do so now though would be totally drain and empty my 55, find buckets for the fish, lot of work, blah. I have a power head too that was given to me ages ago, can't use it, so it sits in the basement. I'd just much rather have that pleasant bubbling sound than the eternal waterfall LOL. Oh you should maybe search on the net for a propeller. We have a pet store nearby, Wallys World LOL, all fish store. They sell them for like $5.00, really cheap. I had to do the same recently for one of my Whisper 3s. I think the magnets go bad after time. LOL, I had two convict cichlids before. Had them for about 3 weeks before I traded them in for something else LOL. Little suckers are mean! I mean my Malawi cichlids are territorial as well, but methinks they don't call those others convicts for nothing!

Cloudbringer - I luckily have never had a tank that has leaked. OMG you coming home and finding your fish in an inch of water, because the tank leaked, is actually one of those nightmares I've had while dreaming now and then LOL! Noooooo!!!

Ross - Sounds like a Salt Water Tank They are the hardest to keep up, but also the prettiest because of the colorful fish you can get. And you can get corals too!

Pritchke - Hey you did better than I if it is a year old LOL. What color is he? And c'mon, tell me the name

Ghoul - No that doesn't count LOL. But you are getting there!

My brother and I each had a Beta fish when we were little. We named them after the old power rangers. I had a red one and my brother had a bluish one. We kept them in little hexigonal plastic tanks about 8-10 inches deep and 4-5 inches long. They died though. Had them for a good three years each.

Yes, my thoughts exactly, I have an underwater rod heater. But it doesnŽt do anything, because my room temperature is near the max the fishes enjoy - IŽd actually need a cooler! I just found out some of the species live up to 8 years old, and that is way more than I expected..

Well Corys are catfish also, which live pretty long As I mentioned above, my present two cats I've had at least 10 years now Isn't it cool when they swim upside down?
